  • Intro:

Described by Kentucky-based Castle & Key Distillery as an "experimental barrel finished gin," this spirit features bright citrus, warm pepper and soft notes of vanilla and black tea. The gin also rests at 54.5% ABV, making it just a few digits shy of a 57% Navy Strength expression. Currenlty, this gin is not yet available for purchase. Stay tuned!

  • Nose:

Wow! Punchy and floral on the nose, a touch of citrus and barrel char, pepper, citrus.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate. Huge juniper, spicy pepper, a touch of citrus and bold orange peel. Vanilla, lemon curd, rich barrel char and a twist of faint butterscotch.

  • Finish:

Long finish, rich and brimming with complexity. Lemon curd, sweet vanilla, black tea, some pepper and orange peel.

  • Overall:

Long finish, rich and brimming with complexity. Lemon curd, sweet vanilla, black tea, some pepper and orange peel. Incredible gin, and a reinforcement that while Castle & Key sits in bourbon country, and also attempts to make their own house bourbon, their strong suit is the gin, and they know how to crush it.
