Distilled by Castle & Key, Roots of Ruin starts its life from a base of the brand's rye whiskey newmake and features chamomile, ginger and rosemary. Bottled at 53% ABV, let's give this gin a go!
Sweet and perfume driven on the nose, tons of honey, sweet cream, confectioners sugar, anise, orange peel, lemon and a touch of pepper.
Sweet on the palate up front, full of cream, sweetness, orange peel, pepper. The back palate is a touch more herbal, spice driven, filled with cardamom and clove.
Long finish, sweet and fruity first, with a dense creamy orange note. Back palate is full of anise, cardamom and spice.
Overall, this is a knock out gin. Lovely, complex. full of sweetness, fruit, spice. Remind me...why does Castle & Key bother with whiskey, again?
