  • Distiller:

    Limestone Branch

  • Bottler:

    Limestone Branch

  • ABV:

    48%

  • Age:

    NA

  • Price:
    $$$$$
  • Raided Score: 90
  • Publication: Gin Raiders
  • Excerpt: Without being too sweet this is delightfully fruity, reigned in by a strong juniper character. I like it a lot, and if not for a little wrinkle here or there, this would likely reach beyond a 7, which is already great. Awesome stuff here.

  • Excerpt: Vaguely smoky and peppery, there’s a pungency here that’s at odds with the otherwise gentle body, the finish riding a wave of buttercup and carnations to a conclusion that lashes out with black pepper, charcoal, and burnt toast. It mixes fair enough (and I found a Bowling & Burch much more balanced), but when sipping straight, something feels lost in translation.

  • Intro:

Ginvitational Day 15! Distilled at Limestone Branch Distillery using 17 botanicals, this New American style gin is pretty interesting. One notable facet of this is that Bowling & Burch uses a lot of botanicals sourced from on their property, though they do not disclose which ones. Let's get to it.

  • Nose:

Sweet cream, peppercorns, juniper, orange peel and papaya. Rich sweetness that goes so well with the pepper. Faint prick of ethanol.

  • Taste:

Rich palate though with some heat. Sweet juniper, anise, orange peel, pepper and rising bread. Really prominent lemon curd note. Complex.

  • Finish:

Short and a bit chemical but also loaded with a really fun blueberry note that pairs well with pepper, lots of juniper and some bay leaf.

  • Overall:

Without being too sweet this is delightfully fruity, reigned in by a strong juniper character. I like it a lot, and if not for a little wrinkle here or there, this would likely reach beyond a 7, which is already great. Awesome stuff here.
